Activin B protein is a protein encoded by the ACTB gene and belongs to the TGF-β superfamily. Activin B protein is widely expressed in humans and other animals, with various physiological functions.

Activin B protein mainly plays a role in multiple biological processes such as embryonic development, reproductive system, skeletal development, and immune system. During embryonic development, Activin B protein is involved in regulating organ formation, tissue differentiation, and cell proliferation. In the reproductive system, Activin B protein, together with inhibin, regulates the secretion of male and female hormones in the testes and ovaries, playing an important role in the growth and differentiation of reproductive cells. Additionally, Activin B protein is also involved in regulating the differentiation of bone cells and skeletal development.

In the immune system, Activin B protein may participate in regulating inflammatory responses and the activation of immune cells. Research indicates that Activin B protein may also play a role in cancer development, such as promoting the proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells.
