Nectin-4 is a cell adhesion protein, also known as PVRL4 (Poliovirus Receptor-Like 4). Nectin-4 is widely expressed in the human body, particularly in epithelial tissues and neural tissues. Under normal physiological conditions, Nectin-4 plays a crucial role in cell-cell adhesion and intercellular signal transduction. Additionally, research indicates that Nectin-4 also plays a key role in embryonic development and neural system development.

In cancer research, Nectin-4 has been found to be associated with the development and metastasis of various cancers. High levels of Nectin-4 expression are linked to the malignancy and prognosis of certain cancers, making it a potential tumor marker. Furthermore, due to its overexpression in cancer cells, Nectin-4 is considered a potential therapeutic target, with treatment strategies targeting Nectin-4 currently under investigation.
