This protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenases family of proteins. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. This gene does not contain introns in the coding sequence. The variation of this locus may affect the development of alcohol-related problems.

Flow cytometric analysis of ALDH1B1 expression in HAP-1 cells using ALDH1B1 antibody . Green, isotype control; red, ALDH1B1.

Immunohistochemistry was performed on paraffin-embedded human sigmoid colon carcinoma using ALDH1B1 antibody . Antigen retrieval was done in sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). DAB was used for detection, with hematoxylin counterstaining. Images were acquired using a Nikon Ci-L Plus microscope (40× objective). Scale bar, 25 μm.

Western blotting analysis using ALDH1B1 antibody . ALDH1B1 expression in wild-type (WT) and ALDH1B1 shRNA knockdown (KD) HeLa cells with 20 μg of total cell lysates.
