This gene is highly similar to the v-src gene of Rous sarcoma virus. This proto-oncogene may play a role in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. The protein encoded by this gene is a tyrosine-protein kinase whose activity can be inhibited by phosphorylation by c-SRC kinase. Mutations in this gene could be involved in the malignant progression of colon cancer. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.

Western blotting analysis using SRC antibody . Total cell lysates (30 μg) from various cell lines were loaded and separated by SDS-PAGE. The blot was incubated with SRC antibody and HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody respectively. Image was developed using FeQ™ ECL Substrate Kit .

Hsp90 α serves as a loading control. The blot was incubated with SRC antibody (Cat #64991, 1:2,500) and HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody (Cat #201, 1:20,000) respectively. Image was developed using FeQ™ ECL Substrate Kit (Cat #226).
