Abstract

Abstract The vesper bat, Myotis chinensis, is a member of the family Vespertilionidae and is found in Southeast Asia. There are, to date, no reports of the complete mitochondrial genome of this species. In this study, the mitochondrial genome of Myotis chinensis collected from Henan Province, China, was sequenced on the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform. The genome was found to be 16,812 bp in length, with a typical closed circular double-stranded structure. It contained 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, and 1 non-coding control region. The overall A + T content was 64.7%, representing a distinct AT bias in the nucleotide composition. Phylogenetic analysis based on 40 Myotis species revealed that M. chinensis is most closely related to M. nattereri and M. bombinus.
