PRX-08066 Maleic acid是5-HT2B受体选择性拮抗剂，IC₅₀为3.4 nM。5-HT受体（5-羟色胺受体）是在中枢和外周神经系统中发现的G蛋白偶联受体(GPCR)，介导兴奋性和抑制性神经传递。在大鼠中，PRX-08066可导致肺动脉选择性血管扩张，缓解肺动脉高压的严重程度。
