盐酸阿德马莫德是一种选择性、ATP竞争性的p38 MAPK抑制剂，对SAPK2a/p38和SAPK2b/p38β2的IC50值分别为50nM和500nM。其对p38的选择性远高于对LCK、GSK3β和PKBα的抑制活性（IC50值高100-500倍），且不抑制JNK。此外，该化合物还能激活自噬和线粒体自噬。
