Abstract
Highlights • We performed metagenomic sequencing and validated the "glass post-larvae" collected from Tangshan Hebei where GPD broke out recently.• A novel virus in the family Marnaviridae was first identified in P. vannamei suffering with GPD. Therefore we have tentatively named this virus as Baishivirus (GenBank: ON550424).• The identification of Baishivirus in P. vannamei provides a new target to prevent GPD and was of great significance to aquaculture worldwide.
