Abstract

Simple Summary Senecavirus A (SVA) is an emerging picornavirus that causes vesicular disease and neonatal death in pigs, yet no specific vaccines or drugs are available. The VP1 protein of SVA is immunogenic, highly conserved, and essential for the viral life cycle. We generated a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against VP1 and mapped its recognized epitope to the minimal unit 16DTDFSGELA24. This epitope is conserved among various SVA isolates. Structural predictions and analyses show that the epitope is located in the α-helix and loop regions of VP1 and exposed on the protein surface. Collectively, the mAb and its epitope provide valuable tools for studying SVA etiology and VP1 function.
